A Welcome Letter from the Editors

Welcome to the very first edition of the Butte Community Arts Newsletter, or CAN. We are so happy that you are here.

This project came forth from a challenge that has been shared among different artistic, musical, and historical organizations in Butte- getting the word out about the amazing things that these organizations do, and the public programming that they put on. This publication will hopefully be many things, first, a collaborative calendar where Butte locals, visitors, and everyone in-between can learn about when upcoming cultural events are, all in one place. This first issue features 7+ different organizations. Uniting Butte organizations with a variety of organizational capacity in this form will allow us all to be seen and heard in new ways.

We are still in the process of figuring out what the Butte CAN could be, and are ready to grow. We would like to eventually include community submissions for poetry, photography, interviews, alongside articles about upcoming events. This project will also be supported by the staff and AmeriCorps VISTA at the Historic Clark Chateau, and eventually by sponsors.

So, in a cooperative effort, we would like to hear from you. We want to hear when your gallery openings, shows, artist receptions, concerts, fundraisers, open mics, presentations, workshops (and more) are. We would like to hear about the way that you or your organization makes Butte a more beautiful and interesting place to visit and live.
