Open AIR MT

Open AIR is a place-based Artist-in-Residence program that connects artists from all disciplines and origins, with culturally, historically, and ecologically significant locations through collaborative partnerships in Western Montana.

With innovative opportunities available in places such as remote wilderness areas to historically significant sites closer to town, artists have the opportunity to draw inspiration from a regional community dedicated to preserving place, environment, and the arts.

The Clark Chateau is proud to host a residency opportunity with Open Air. Residents are given workspace in the building.  Housing is hosted offsite.  Applications are processed through Open Air.

Exhibition Proposals

The Clark Chateau welcomes the opportunity to review exhibition proposals from individual artists, collaborative groups, or guest curators. Proposals are reviewed on a regular basis by museum staff.

To submit a proposal, please include a cover letter, artist statement, CV or resume, and 10 images. In the cover letter, please propose a specific exhibition, and tell us about it—What do you want it to do? What will it look like? What is it about? If appropriate, describe possible programs that you may be able to provide, similar past experiences, and offer references. Finally, describe any special circumstances or provisions. Please limit artist statements to a single paragraph that describes an overview of your general approach, process, concept, and how the process supports the concept.

Emailed proposals must be in a PDF format.

Proposals can be mailed to:
